mango madness

I love mangoes but always get frustrated cutting and eating them by hand because they are so slippery. (I just pictured myself in an infomerical overexaggerating this feat... mango slices shooting from my hand to the floor... me pulling my hair out.) I recently witnessed someone eating a mango off the skin and thought they were pure genius. Then I spotted this tutorial! I'm now ready to devour you Mr. Mango.

wish list

Items I want, but will most likely not purchase anytime soon. All from 80's Purple.

salvador dali and his pet ocelot

looking forward to...

M. Ward's new album. Well, it's been out for awhile, but haven't listened to it yet.
Paper Heart. This movie is not out until August, but I can't hardly wait! Love me some Michael Cera.

These cutouts by Peter Callesen are incredible.

down for maintenance

Twitter was down for maintenance and they posted this. I like!

spirograph

Found this image of old spirograph directions. Now I wanna go buy one and spirograph the surfaces of my house. (I realize I "want" too much stuff, but that's what this blog is for... to get it out of my system.)

marimo

New plant find for me--marimo! These rare algae only grow in Iceland, Japan, and Estonia. You can find them at specialty plant shops (like the Palm Room in Seattle) and they grow to the size of the container they're in. Bonus fact: marimo can live up to 200 years. I heart weird stuff.

paper decorations

Love these decorations made from dictionary pages and French magazines via Royal Buffet.

taking a trip

This Chanel video with Audrey Tautou is absolutely dreamy. This is what I imagine myself doing on weekends.

your slip is showing

A fancy slip peeking out of your favorite dress is lovely. These from Your Slip is Showing are quite nice, but I think a little pricey.

more music

Since I'm thinking about music, why not share some of my recent favs... Au Revoir Simone, Camera Obscura, and Liz Durrett. (I know there's others, but can't seem to think of them under pressure.) You can get a taste of the aforementioned deliciousness on their MySpace music page here, here, and here.

npr music

Whoa, the NPR music page is pretty cool. I'm having an exclusive first listen to Jason Lytle's (from Grandaddy) solo album, Yours Truly, The Commuter.
